💛 Why I Serve – From the Heart of Martin County
During COVID-19, when fear and uncertainty filled our communities, I didn’t wait to be asked I acted.
-
I organized tractor-trailer deliveries filled with essential supplies such as hand sanitizer, face masks, face shields, hand sanitizer stands, tissue, Lysol, and disinfecting wipes to help protect our families.
-
I started a community food pantry to make sure no one went hungry.
-
I built the first park in Oak City, creating a safe space for our youth and families to enjoy.
-
I wrote grants for several government agencies and organizations to bring vital resources and opportunities to Martin County. One of those grants, written through the TFBU Foundation, I brought in over $380,000 to support farm workers and meat factory employees during COVID-19 providing $600 in relief to each person who qualified.
-
I helped people register to vote and hosted “Party at the Polls” events to encourage civic participation and unity.
-
I mentored several youths, offering guidance, encouragement, and hope for a brighter future.
-
I provided scholarships to help students achieve their educational goals.
-
I donated to and hosted numerous community events throughout Martin County to strengthen connections and celebrate our people.
-
I spoke at many churches across Martin County, sharing my wisdom, faith, and message of service.
I have done all of this for many years without expecting anything in return, never paid for any of my work, or obligation to do it but because I care deeply about you, your family, and our community. Serving is not just what I do, it’s who I am.
When you vote for Marvin Hilliard for Sheriff, you vote for a leader who has already been serving with heart, integrity, and dedication to the people of Martin County.
⚖️ Why That Matters in a Sheriff
Being Sheriff is about more than enforcing the law, it’s about caring for the people you serve. It’s about understanding their needs, earning their trust, and standing with them in both good times and hard times.
A true Sheriff leads with compassion, fairness, and respect for every person no matter their background or circumstance.
Through my work with the TFBU Foundation, I’ve seen how acts of service can change lives. And through my current role with the State of North Carolina as an Administrative Specialist FARS Analyst, I’ve learned even more about the importance of life itself.
Every day, I analyze traffic fatalities across all 100 counties in North Carolina. I see tragedy up close families forever changed in an instant. That work has made me even more grateful for my own life and yours. It reminds me every day how fragile life is, and how important it is to protect it.
That’s why I’m running for Sheriff because I care. And I want to make life safer, fairer, and easier for every person in Martin County.
I’ve spent years serving this community from the heart and as Sheriff, I know I can do even more.
When you vote for Marvin Hilliard for Sheriff, you’re voting for a leader who’s already proven that service, compassion, and integrity come first.
